Plants, questions, promises, arcs and continuity notes are one shape: something opens, must close,
has a status and two places. One table means what is still owed is a single query,
and it removes a decision you would otherwise be making while writing.
Set a due by chapter and anything still open past it turns up as overdue on its own.
